She was born February 24, 1925, in Thomas, a daughter of late Eva Thersa (Yeager) Dillon and Samuel Edward Dillon.
Dorothy was first and foremost a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She was a member of the Thomas First Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her sons, Harold Shoemaker and wife Clara of Roanoke Rapids, NC, and Samuel Shoemaker and wife Diana of Thomas, WV; grandchildren, Nathan Shoemaker, Karen Bates, Megan Sypolt and Samuel "Dillon" Shoemaker; great grandchildren Noah and Hunter Bates, Cole Shoemaker, and Alyssa, Adelyn, & Aubrey Sypolt and many other extended family from her second marriage to Howard Losh.
In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her son, Timothy Shoemaker; husbands, Harold (Jiggs) Shoemaker and Howard Losh; brother, Robert "Bob/Sonny" Dillon; and sister Yvonne (Bonnie) Shaffer.
Dorothy believed Sundays were a time for church and family. She loved to hop in the car with Howard and travel all over with no timeline and destination in mind. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and she loved to host her annual family Christmas party. She loved to walk to the special spot (greenie spot) for picnics. Shopping was a must, especially at the Pottery in Williamsburg and she never missed a sporting event of her grandchildren.
